Philippine Azkals vs. Kuwait Al-Azraq Personal Post-Fight Analysis
Before I start discussing about the result of the Azkals vs. Kuwait match, I just want to inform you that I am not actually a fan of the Azkals or the Al-Azraq or soccer so please don’t flame me with comments that is against my personal opinion regarding the game of the “new pride” of the Philippines. I am not a soccer game expert and my analysis here are based on what I have witnessed on their recently concluded games.
I prefer to watch boxing events like Mayweather vs. Ortiz, Pacquiao vs. Marquez and the like because it is much easier to know who wins and who loose. Unlike with the soccer / football, I need to wait for almost 2 hours before the game ends and there is less close-ups (and sometimes none) of the highlights of the game.
I’ve watched two of the games of the Philippine Azkals and the powerhouse Kuwait Al-Azraq and I have seen how they (the Azkals) were out played by the much skilled players from Kuwait even on their home court and the wet field. It shows how the players from this team still requires more experience and training to keep up with the coordination and offenses of their opponent. I have seen how Kuwait kicked their way to the goal area and how the Azkals are so lax on defense.
When Kuwait kicks, someone is really accepting the ball and its like they are communicating on the field as every time someone pass it someone is really receiving it. It is like they can read minds of their team mate. Unlike the Azkals way, they kick the ball in random. Maybe this is just their way defending their territory.
I partially agree with their coach when he says, Azkals still needs a year to prepare against the Kuwait Al-azraq team. I believe they need more than that.
In the end, Azkals still have done something and that is introducing the soccer – football game in the Philippines. I am expecting them next year to be more competitive than ever and I hope later the Azkals team will be dominated by 100% pure blood Filipino players just like the Kuwait team – see their skin colors very dominating in the field?
But still, good job for Azkals!!!
