The NCAA Basketball Tournament has finally ended and in the end, it was Louisville which landed victorious among the rest of the basketball teams. The scene was really amazing and the whole court was filled with joy with two seconds still left before Monday night’s national title game ended and the party already started.
You could just imagine how the red-clad Louisville fans pumped their fists, exchanged high fives and raised their hands in victory and the Cardinals players and coaches also doing the same on the floor in celebration of a victory more than a year in the making. It was lovable to see how smiles, laughters and even tears crowd their faces, most especially the Louisville team members.
Three hundred seventy-three days after its unexpected Final Four run came crashing to an unexpected stop against a superior Kentucky team last March, Louisville experienced the same joy its rival had at the Cardinals’ expense. Behind 22 points from Luke Hancock, 18 from Peyton Siva and 15 from Chane Behanan, Louisville edged Michigan 82-76 in a scintillating national title game, delivering the school’s third national championship and its first since 1986. It was such a great moment and they have longed for this moment even before.
They actually had a hard time making it to Final Four for the past seven years but right now, they truly emerged as champions and no one can stop them now. The victory is truly theirs and this year’s NCAA Tournament is now over.
Talking about privacy, looks like some drug criminals or suspects found out a great way to communicate by using Apple’s iMessage encryption chat service. An internal government document revealed that the encryption being used in Apple’s iMessage chat service is being stymied by the federal drug enforcement agents to eavesdrop on suspects’ conversations. However, the internal document also complains that the messages being sent through Apple’s encrypted chat service are “impossible to intercept” even with an issued warrant arrest.
Encryption or to make an encryption means the process of encoding messages or information in such a way that eavesdroppers or hackers cannot read it, but that authorized parties can. Through this kind of message, other people will definitely have no idea what you are talking about since they cannot access the conversation that you have made, and it was a good trick, actually.
Going back to Apple’s iMessage chat service, an internal Drug Enforcement Administration document was seen by the CNET was found out to have discussed a criminal investigation which was issued last February 2013 giving a warning to the people that with the use of the encryption, “it is impossible to intercept iMessages between two Apple devices” even without a court order approved by a federal judge.
“It’s much much more difficult to intercept than a telephone call or a text message” that federal agents are used to, Christopher Soghoian, a senior policy analyst at the American Civil Liberties Union, says. “The government would need to perform an active man-in-the-middle attack… The real issue is why the phone companies in 2013 are still delivering an unencrypted audio and text service to users. It’s disgraceful.”
During their most recent game against Miami Heat, New York Knicks won because of Carmelo Anthony’s undying performance when he scored 50 points for the entire game, but right now, with their game against Atlanta last Wednesday night, Carmelo Anthony put on another scoring show when he scored a total of 40 points for his team.
Even if he was not alone in being part of this game’s victory, Carmelo Anthony just proved to us that he can maintain such wonderful performance in an NBA game. Anthony scored 40 points and the Knicks got key contributions from J.R. Smith and Raymond Felton during a 19-5 fourth-quarter run that sparked New York to its 10th straight victory. They defeated Atlanta last Wednesday with a total score of 95-82.
They actually couldn’t believe the victory that they are getting in each game that they play but they are very grateful, especially Knicks coach Mike Woodson. He said: “”Melo is smart enough to know that if he’s doubled, he’ll sacrifice the ball. And we’ve got enough shooters around him that are making big shots. That opens it up for him even more. And when he gets going like he did tonight, they’re not going to leave him alone very often.”
Anthony who, as I’ve mentioned earlier, scored 50 in their previous encounter with Miami, scored 26 during the first half while he commanded more defensive attention during the second half. ”A lot of Anthony’s points came off the bounce, with just two or three dribbles, and then a quick pull-up,” Woodson added. ”When he got doubled, he got the ball out. It was kind of nice to play off him tonight.”
New York Knicks is the one who was able to stop Miami Heat’s Winning Streak in their game last Wednesday night. Not just that, because Knicks Carmelo Anthony surprised the people when he accumulated almost half of his team’s score when he released his final shot of the night and skipped forward, already anticipating the victorious result of the game.
The result of the game was better for Anthony and the New York Knicks. Anthony tied his score with 50 points and the Knicks won their ninth straight game, topping the injury-depleted Miami Heat last Wednesday night with scores 102-90.
“I felt good tonight,” Carmelo Anthony said after reaching the highest points he ever had in the NBA history. Anthony finished 18 to 26 from the field, taking two dribbles to free himself from Shane Battier and make his last shot with 16.9 seconds remaining to get to 50 and send the Knicks’ bench into hysterics. Actually, it was the third time for him to get a score of 50 in his career, but this one’s just brought him more joy because of the victory of Knicks and this game came with Miami’s LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Mario Chalmers all sidelined by injuries.
”I think just from the start of the game, it’s a feeling that you just have while you’re out there on the court,” Anthony said. ”Sometimes you get off to a good start and then you get cold the rest of the game, but tonight wasn’t one of those cases.” This just keeps going, and when this kind of performance from Anthony continues, it is not impossible for New York Knicks to win the NBA Finals.
We are very much aware that jokes and pranks can come on us during April 1st or what they usually call as “April Fools’ Day” but still, many of us end up caught into one of these jokes, pranks, or tricks done by our friends, by our family members, or by people we don’t even know. This is just normal and as they say, you are not allowed to get mad when someone plays a joke on you on April Fools’. But we must also remember that there is always a limitation on everything, but what is important is for us to celebrate this day with a smile, even if we became victims and got fooled.
There is no exception in this matter, because even in our very own Twitter and Google, many people got victims of April Fools’ Day. The Internet is full of jokes, hilarious images and funny comments but this April 1, 2013, it reached the highest peak of its foolishness to people when they played the trick of April Fools’.
For Google, it was only a matter of time before they added a treasure map function to Google Maps and according to Google’s Map blog, Google found a treasure map from the “infamous pirate, William ‘Captain’ Kidd.” It was really funny how Google added a “Treasure Mode” in order to find the treasures around the world and some got really fooled on it, trying to click on everything just to find out where the treasure is.
And as for Twitter, the networking site has announced today that it will begin to charge you if you want to tweet words with vowels so I guess a lot of tweets were shortened today. “Everyone can use our basic service, Twttr, but you only get consonants. For five dollars a month, you can use our premium ‘Twitter’ service which also includes vowels,” Twitter wrote on its blog. To make the transition easier, Twitter or now Twttr has created a tool that removes vowels from your Tweets.
Funny, isn’t it, how the Internet really influenced our lives and it was really alarming for some, but they eventually found out that it was all part of April Fools’ jokes.
Kevin Ware caught the attention of many during their previous game when he was seen crying and shaken and writhing on the court with his right leg splintered. That time, Rick Pitino and his Louisville players had no idea what to do and on how they were going to pull it together with a half still left to play and with one strong player down. The Final Four berth is just on the brink of the line and this is their only chance to reach that but with Kevin Ware on the floor, how will they be able to do it.
Still, they didn’t lose hope. Louisville still managed to reach the Final Four after beating the Duke with scores 85-63. Ware was the one show showed them the way to victory. ”I don’t think we could have gathered ourselves – I know I couldn’t have – if Kevin didn’t say over and over again, ‘Just go win the game,”’ Pitino said. ”I don’t think we could have gone in the locker room with a loss after seeing that. We had to gather ourselves. We couldn’t lose this game for him. We just couldn’t.”
In the meantime, on next Saturday, the Cardinals will play with the Wichita State in the national semifinals while the ninth-seeded Shockers has just added to their streak of upsets with a 70-66 victory over Ohio State on Saturday night. Now that Louisville finally reached the Final Four, does this give them the chance to become champion?
