The Much Awaited “Major” Microsoft Announcement

Microsoft Corporation or NASDAQ: MSFT is one of the fast growing American multinational corporation the develops, manufactures, licenses and supports a wide range of products and services predominantly related to computing through its different product divisions. Many users trust the said company and uses their different software in their computers.

In the most recent news about the corporation, Microsoft is expected to make a “major” announcement after the market closed last Monday. There were a lot of speculations coming out pertaining to the said closing and one speculation focuses on the media event conducted in Los Angeles that has ranged from unveiling a new tablet computer that uses low-power chips to a new system that will use an upcoming version of Windows to help people access TV shows and movies across a wide variety of devices.

has definitely made a great impact into each person’s life especially in terms of their services. So many were really surprised with their major announcement. Probably this has something to do with the announcement of Microsoft of the $300 million, 17.6 percent stake in Barnes & Noble’s Nook e-book business in April expecting a tablet-focused update.

Also part of the announcement, the Windows 8 system is also expected to be released in September or October, in time for devices that will ship for the holiday season. Windows 8 is considered to be the biggest change in decades to the widely used operating system from Microsoft Corp. thus, if you are currently using Windows 7, sooner or later, it will already become obsolete and it will be fully changed and replaced by Windows 8 afterwards.

China’s New Openness to Hollywood Makes Actors and Actresses Glad

Years back, China has never been open for Hollywood and the entire industry to enter and penetrate the country. However, as of this time, the Hollywood actors and actresses were really glad when the was a new breach in China’s great cultural wall that came out and Hollywood is cautiously moving in and prompting to be part of it.

On Monday, Disney announced that it will make “Iron Man 3” in partnership with a Chinese company as the latest sign that movie studios are already warming to China’s new openness. They thought that it was unlikely to happen but it is already happening right now. If you can just go back decades ago in the history of China, the country has capped the number of foreign films it allows into the country. Luckily, the limit went to 20, but on February just this year, the Chinese officials have announced that they are increasing the quota to 34. This is definitely good news, isn’t it? This will open new opportunities for producers and filmmakers to promote their films in China where the population is one of the highest in the world.

Furthermore, China said that it will also allow foreign studios to garner a greater share of box office revenue and the foreign companies can now expect to earn 25 percent of their movies’ ticket sales in China, up from between 13.5 and 17.5 percent. This will surely create greater earnings for the upcoming movies of this year and for the years to come.

Facebook Username and Password: Requirements in Applying for Jobs

Before, when you applied for a job, they usually ask you for your email-address or contact numbers, but asking for your username and password in Facebook, I guess that is another story. Have you ever heard of a company who requires you to submit your password and username on Facebook?

Justin Bassett was recently interviewed for a new job and he already expected to hear the usual questions like your previous work experience, if there are any, tell something about yourself, etc. But what he did not expect was when the interviewer asked for his Facebook username and password. He was really surprised. What was that all about?

Bassett is a City Statistician in New York and he had just finished answering a few character questions when the interviewer turned to her computer to search for his page in Facebook. However, she realized that the profile was set in a private mode and what was surprising was when she asked for his login information.

Because of this, Justin Bassett immediately refused to give the said information asked and withdrew his application, saying he did not want to work for a company that would seek such personal information. However, as the job market steadily improves, other job candidates are confronting the same question from prospective employers, and some of them cannot afford to say no.

In my own point of view, however, I say that this is not appropriate because people’s login information in social networking sites such as Facebook are highly controversial as this is the right of every person to somehow have the privacy that they wanted to acquire.

“It’s akin to requiring someone’s house keys,” said Orin Kerr, a law professor in George Washington University and formerly a federal prosecutor who calls it “an egregious privacy violation.”

Intel Launches the Biggest Ad Campaign After 8 Years of Service

Intel Corporation is one of the biggest multinational semiconductor chip maker corporation in America and it is located in Santa Clara, California, United States. It is considered to be the world’s largest semiconductor chip maker based on the revenue.

Just recently, Intel launches its biggest ad campaign ever that aims to push the new thinner and lighter notebook computers in the world. Intel Corp says that it is betting big on its “ultrabook” concept by making it possible to have their largest advertising campaign ever, the largest that they had since they started in 2003.

According to Kevin Sellers, the head of advertising of Intel, the “ultrabook” will be out in the market starting on April. He spoke this to the press last Monday before the opening of the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Sellers did not reveal the actual cost or expenses Intel Corp spent for the ads and other initiatives.

It wasn’t really part of the plan of Intel to launch this big since the company introduced Centrino chips for Wi-fi capable laptops last eight years ago. The “ultrabooks” will look the same with the MacBook Air of Apple which was launched about three years ago.
